The Lonely Hearts Bar by Konni Granma

I give this book 3.5/5 stars. Here’s why.

What I liked:
The pace was excellent and I could feel the characters every emotion. This was great. I thought Connie was quirky and ambitious and I definitely see future books with this character. For this, I kept reading and did enjoy the book. It was decently good.

What I didn’t like:
Grammar. Grammar. Grammar. I find myself stumbling through some of the sentences and having to re-read them several times to make sure my mind didn’t skip words. You know that DOES happen when you’re reading on occasion.

Maybe this hasn’t gone through the final stages of editing, which is fine. Maybe I’m alone in this.

I feel like the writer was trying to over complicate the wording. Words that wouldn’t normally go in a particular sentence were placed weirdly. Just something I noticed.

The book started in the middle of a scene that was supposedly a memory of some kind. I was confused and disoriented by this. I was confused a lot. It took me 40-50 pages to figure out what the hell was going on. It seemed choppy at times.

Final thoughts:
It’s a good story and I think it has tons of potential. It definitely could use a walkthrough. If there is a final copy of this, I’d love to pick it up.

** I did receive a free pdf copy of this book, however, there were no requests for a review. I reviewed with my own intent.**
